MELISSA A. BLACK

Melissa A. Black joined the firm as an associate in 2016. Melissa has represented employers in matters relating to workers' compensation, including Industrial Commission hearings and court appeals, since her admission to the Ohio Bar in 2004. As part of her workers' compensation defense practice, Melissa also counsels employers on workplace safety, post-injury investigations, settlements and retaliation claims. Melissa enjoys assisting both state-funded and self-insured employers of all sizes.

Melissa is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Columbus Bar Association. She is a 2004 graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law and a 1996 graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Melissa was a two-time captain of the UMass women's basketball team, and, before enrolling in law school, she played professionally in Europe for four seasons. Melissa enjoys being an active member of the central Ohio community serving on the boards of Pilot Dogs, Inc., a local Lions Club and as Advisory Council Chair for Vocational Guidance Services' Columbus location.
